Liposuction
Liposuction is a plastic surgery procedure that reshapes the body. It involves the local removal of unwanted fat from areas where it usually accumulates, i.e. most often the face, arms, abdomen, thighs, buttocks and hips. The main goal of liposuction is to give the figure the right proportions.
Liposuction can be used alone or in combination with other plastic surgery procedures (e.g. breast augmentation with own fat). Liposuction is used in people who have a problem with excess body fat, which does not disappear under the influence of proper diet and exercise. The treatment is especially willingly performed by patients who, despite having a normal body weight, gain weight unevenly, which causes complexes due to the disproportion of the figure.
Liposuction – what is it?
Liposuction is performed using metal cannulas, under local, spinal or general anesthesia. The aim of the procedure is primarily to reduce the thickness of the subcutaneous fat tissue. Liposuction involves inserting a tool under the skin that loosens all the tissue and breaks up the cells, which sucks up the entire mass. The duration of the procedure is usually 1 – 2 hours. The classic method of liposuction uses the phenomenon of negative pressure, which leads to the removal of adipose tissue.
Liposuction – for whom?
The liposuction procedure is especially recommended for post-pregnancy women who have accumulated fat around the abdomen and hips, and for men struggling with gynecomastia. Any person who is dissatisfied with the location of adipose tissue on their body can benefit from the procedure. It is worth remembering, however, that liposuction is not a slimming procedure, but a body shaping procedure.
Recommendations before the procedure
For a period of 3 weeks before the planned surgery, drugs that reduce blood coagulability and hormonal drugs should be discontinued. Stop smoking and drinking alcohol for at least a week before the procedure.
Recommendations after the procedure
After the procedure, it is recommended to wear special compression underwear for 4-6 weeks. Physical exercise is not recommended for 3-4 weeks after the procedure. Effort should be increased gradually. Do not sunbathe and expose your skin to the sun or use a solarium for about 3 weeks.
Effects of the treatment
The liposuction procedure is aimed at modeling the figure. It reduces the amount of fatty tissue in specific places and ensures firmness and elasticity of the skin.
