Lip augmentation – about the procedure

What does lip augmentation look like?

The lips are first anesthetized with an anesthetic cream or lidocaine, so that the pain during the procedure is less noticeable. The doctor then inserts hyaluronic acid into the red lip using a syringe with a thin needle or cannula. In order to distribute the product evenly, immediately after the injection, the doctor performs a gentle massage of the lips for a while.

The procedure of lip augmentation and modeling with hyaluronic acid does not require special preparation on the part of the patient. Before the drug is administered, of course, a medical consultation is held, during which the patient talks with the doctor about the course of the entire procedure, the expected effects and possible contraindications to the procedure. After administration of hyaluronic acid, the effect is immediate. However, on the day of the procedure and for several days thereafter, there is visible swelling, which may initially make the mouth appear too large. This is a completely natural phenomenon and is an integral part of any treatment with hyaluronic acid. Apart from swelling lasting several days, which can be soothed, for example, with ice packs, the patients usually do not experience any other complaints.

In aesthetic medicine and cosmetology, hyaluronic acid is used primarily because of its ability to bind large amounts of water. By spraying the lips with hyaluronic acid, we can not only improve their contour and visibly enlarge them, but also harden, moisturize and strengthen the red lip. In addition, hyaluronic acid can also flush away wrinkles that form around the mouth (so-called smoker’s wrinkles). This is all without the artificiality that patients are so afraid of.
