ISHRS Conference. I have been a member of the International Society for Hair Restoration Surgery for a good few years. Thanks to this, not only do I constantly expand my knowledge in the field of hair transplantation or keep abreast of all medical “news”, but I also participate in many important events held around the world.

After returning from the 26th ISHRS Conference, held in Hollywood, I thought that I would not soon find myself at such a surprising, valuable and educational event. However, I didn’t have to wait long for a conference that exceeded my expectations – the next installment of the ISHRS World Conference (Bangkok 2019) has already exceeded my wildest expectations!

International Society for Hair Restoration Surgery

ISHRS stands for the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery, the world’s non-profit medical society and leading authority on hair loss. This group is made up of specialists from as many as 70 countries around the world who work together to achieve excellence in the treatment of hair loss problems by promoting the highest standards, medical ethics and research in the aforementioned field. I am extremely proud to be a part of this association – to derive knowledge, but also to share the knowledge that I myself possess.

Such a place where, once a year, members of the Association can meet and exchange valuable experiences is the ISHRS World Conference, which has been organized for almost three decades. I have the impression that this event outdoes itself year after year. This is undoubtedly influenced by the dynamic development of modern medicine, but also by the very setting of the conference, which is held in a different part of the world each year.

For me, this event is also important because of the social interaction with specialists from all over the world – the members of the Association are characterized not only by their vast knowledge of hair restoration surgery, but also by their extraordinary willingness to share their experiences. This fosters new friendships and hours of discussions.

27th ISHRS World Conference

The last edition of the World Conference was held in the fall of 2019 in Bangkok. During this several-day visit to Thailand, I had the opportunity to watch the work of the world’s greatest specialists, such as Dr. Kenichiro Imagawa from Japan and Dr. Parsa Mohebi from Los Angeles. I was inevitably struck by the excellent work on the use of stem cells in the treatment of male pattern baldness presented by Dr. Ratchathorn Panchaprateep and the “live surgery” performed by Dr. Roberto Trivellini.

I’ve written this before, but I’ll say it again – for doctors involved in this field of aesthetic medicine, the ISHRS meetings are a true celebration! It’s hard to describe in a few sentences everything you experience at such an event, and the knowledge you bring back to your practice is something worth its weight in gold. And then, of course, there are the social aspects – it’s not easy every day to gather friends of doctors from 70 countries of the world in one place, The exchange of handshakes, conversations and evening meetings are something you remember for a whole year – until the next conference.

Attending the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery conferences is extremely valuable to doctors for several reasons. First, it provides access to the latest research and innovations in the field of hair transplantation, which allows you to stay up-to-date on techniques, such as FUE or FUT, and new therapies for baldness. Second, conferences offer hands-on workshops where doctors can hone their skills under the guidance of experts, resulting in better outcomes for patients.

Third, ISHRS brings together professionals from around the world, allowing for the exchange of experiences and the establishment of professional contacts, which can lead to scientific or clinical collaborations. Finally, conferences provide the CME (Continuing Medical Education) credits necessary to maintain medical licensure and ongoing professional development. For doctors specializing in hair restoration, it’s an investment in knowledge, skills and reputation that pays off in clinical practice.

Hair transplantation is an ever-evolving field, so it’s worth keeping up with the latest ocdryings in this field.
