Breast shape correction
Breast shape correction (mastopexy) is a surgery performed by patients dissatisfied with the appearance of their breasts, most often as a result of previous pregnancies, significant weight loss or the passage of time.
This is an effective way to lift the bust and improve its shape. It consists in modeling the breasts in such a way that they become firm and lifted again. As a result of the procedure, the shape of the breast changes and excess flaccid skin is removed. It is also possible to reduce the size of the nipple-areola complex. Mastopexy can be combined with breast augmentation.
Breast shape correction – what is it?
Breast shape correction involves lifting and improving the shape of the breast by removing excess skin and modeling the breast tissue. The halo is moved higher (or reduced if overstretched). Mastopexy can be performed with an incision around the areola, with a vertical scar to the inframammary crease, or with an anchor-shaped scar. In the case of atrophy of the gland (e.g. after breastfeeding), the effect of the operation can be additionally improved by using breast implants. Mastopexy surgery is performed under general anesthesia. It lasts about 1-3 hours.
Breast shape correction – for whom?
Mastopexy is a procedure aimed at women whose breasts have lost their original shape. This can be caused by many factors, but most often, people who are pregnant and breast-feeding, after a significant weight loss, and older people whose breasts have changed shape with age, come for the procedure.
Recommendations before the procedure
Before the operation, it is necessary to perform appropriate tests, i.e. morphology, ECG and ultrasound. It is also important to abstain from smoking, drinking alcohol and taking anticoagulants at least a month before the operation.
Recommendations after the procedure
After mastopexy, a 24-hour stay in the clinic is necessary. For 2 months from the date of the surgery, the patient should wear a special postoperative bra supporting the bust and avoid sleeping on her stomach. The recovery period usually lasts a few days, and physical activity can be resumed 6-8 weeks after the procedure.
There may be swelling and pain in the breasts after surgery. In order to relieve unpleasant ailments, you can use painkillers recommended by your doctor.
The effects of abdominal plastic surgery
Mastopexy makes it possible to improve the shape of the breast. The first effect is visible immediately after the procedure, but the final effects usually take 3 to 6 months. Please note that surgery cannot stop the physiological aging process or prevent the effects of gravity. Therefore, although mastopexy is permanent, over time there may be a need to repeat the operation.
