In the past hair played an important role in our lives – it protected our body against a negative influence of temperature, e.g. it helped to avoid head over-heating. In today’s world, its role has changed considerably – not only does it protect us against high temperature, but also it is of crucial significance to our appearance and great mood. Healthy hair is greatly associated with the young age and make us considered as visually attractive people. To improve this effect, we often decide on visits at hairdresser’s. But, does cutting your hair have an influence on its quality?
How often to trim the hair ends?
Hair trimming has no influence on hair follicles as well as hair loss. The hair which is visible with the naked eye is only a stem; all the processes connected with the hair growth take place in a hair follicle located under the skin. However, our hair is not indifferent to external factors and is exposed to damage such us split ends. The hairdresser appointment, apart from styling qualities, has a great influence on the hair condition – the removal of damaged and split ends brings a visual final effect and gives the impression that our hair is thicker. So how often should we trim our hair? It’s an individual issue and depends on many factors. Healthy hair should be trimmed twice a year; six months is the time when the hair stem – even the most healthy and well-cared one – is able to prevail without damage. People who often expose their hair to frequent high-temperature styling should trim the ends every 2-3 months; to keep the hairdo’s shape, a hairdresser’s appointment should take place every 4 weeks.
Hair transplant vs. hairdresser’s visit
After FUE hair transplant, the recovery process lasts only 5-7 days – after that, the patient can return to their everyday routine activities. The transplanted hair fall out after a few weeks, and only after 3- 4 months the proper hair growth starts to be visible. During the first 4 weeks we should avoid visiting a hairdresser in order not to damage the transplanted hair follicles (the scalp in the transplanted area is very delicate and needs time for full recovery) as well as to keep the safety. After the transplant, it’s extremely important to take care of hygiene and make sure to keep your head clear of any dirt.
